If you have successfully completed your studies with the final examination, or if you wish to interrupt or discontinue your studies, submit an application for exmatriculation / discharge certificate to your responsible administrator at the Registration and Examinations Office (IPA).
You can find the application in the Form-Centre under your degree programme.
De-registration on application takes effect on the date you apply for. At the earliest, however, at the time of receipt of the application, at the latest at the end of the current semester (31 March or 30 September). Retroactive exmatriculation is not possible.
As soon as you are exmatriculated, you will receive an exmatriculation certificate and a study progress certificate. You will need both documents to continue your studies at another German university or for the German pension insurance.

Upon submission of the certificate of discharge, you will be issued with a certificate of exmatriculation and a certificate of study progress. Submit the certificate of discharge to your responsible administrator at the Registration and Examinations Office (IPA).

Exmatriculation certificate
After submitting the discharge certificate, you will receive an exmatriculation certificate and a study progress certificate.
Examinations after exmatriculation
An entitlement to admission to an examination existing at the time of exmatriculation remains intact in accordance with the examination regulations (see §30 BerlHG).
Final examination taken
Students who have already successfully passed their final examination in the current semester cannot re-register for the coming semester. If you are only waiting for the results of your final examination, do not re-register (§30 Abs. 6 BerlHG).
Health insurance
Your entitlement to compulsory health insurance in student status ends with your exmatriculation. After your exmatriculation, please contact your health insurance company as soon as possible.
BAföG
If you are receiving BAföG, please inform the Office for the Promotion of Education immediately about your exmatriculation.
Employment relationship with the UdK Berlin
If you have an employment relationship with the UdK Berlin as a student assistant / tutoring contract, please also inform the Personnel Office immediately about your conclusion.
Note:
If you have already paid the full semester fee but are exmatriculated before the start of the semester in question, you can have the semester fee refunded minus an administrative fee of 50 euros.
The UdK also issues certified copies of the documents we create (certificate, transcripts, diploma supplements, etc.).
Administrative fees of 2.00 EUR per document and copy are charged for issuing the certified copies (Verwaltungsgebührenordnung (VGebO)).
The fees must be paid in advance by bank transfer.

In some countries, an apostille is required for the recognition of certificates and deeds. Whether this apostille has to be issued on the original (certificate) or on a certified copy depends on your country of destination.
Administrative fees of 11.00 EUR per document are charged for issuing the apostille (Verwaltungsgebührenordnung (VGebO)).
The fees must be paid in advance by bank transfer.

As a UdK graduate, you can obtain the necessary pre-certification from the following contact persons:

Subsequently, an apostille / legalisation can be issued by the State Office for Citizens' and Regulatory Affairs.
In general, you will have received an exmatriculation certificate after your exmatriculation. If you no longer have this or if the German Pension Insurance does not have it, you must (have) filled out the form V0510 of the German Pension Insurance.
To do this, download the current form V0510 from the Deutsche Rentenversicherung website and fill in all the personal details. Send this document together with the following information, which is absolutely necessary, by e-mail to your responsible administrator at the Registration and Examinations Office (IPA).
