Institutes in the Study Programme Architecture
Structure of the Programme
The UdK study programme Architecture is conceived and realized jointly by two institutes, the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (IAS) and the Institute for the History and Theory of Design (IGTG). Both institutes belong to the College of Architecture, Media and Design.
The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (IAS) unites the departments Design and Urban Development, Building Planning, Building Construction, Structural Design and Technology, and Building Physics and Building Services Engineering, as well as Plastic and Spatial Representation for Architects. The research activities of the IAS investigate themes of design theory, planning and engineering with direct reference to our constructed environment.
The Institute for the History and Theory of Design (IGTG) unites transdisciplinary fields in the theory of art, culture and the humanities, developing historical and theoretical perspectives on architecture, visual communication and communication in social and economic contexts with its teaching and research.
