Materials research meets stage art: students of the M.A. Design & Computation (UdK & TU Berlin) and the M.Sc. Biotechnology (TU Berlin) have developed a sustainable stage set made of mushroom mycelium with the Neuköllner Oper (NKO). In addition to the properties and possible applications of the environmentally friendly material, the potential of future AI-based production was also researched in practice. Similar to our DuraX project on biomimetic materials for medicine, we want to provide impetus for forward-looking action at the interface of design, technology and science. The stage design can currently be seen until May 11 as part of the musical theater piece “GEGENGIFT” at the NKO. More information about the research project here: https://www.newpractice.net/research
