Rabih Mroué – Is it now or never?

When urgent "current events" push artists to act quickly, what kind of work results? Is it truly a question of "now or never", as Elvis Presley famously sings or as those in power often declare in their political discourse? This provocative question will guide the workshop, which explores themes of time, narrative, and art during crises. We’ll examine media, fake news, violence, and the blurred lines between reality and fiction. Rabih Mroué will present his own work alongside examples from artists and theater-makers engaging with these themes. Through exercises and discussions, the participants will explore alternative strategies for creating art in response to political and social pressures, taking the time necessary for more thoughtful discussions, reflections, and creative work.
