Workshop: Josephine Ann Endicott / Bénédicte Billiet
EXPLORING PINA BAUSCH'S DANCE THEATRE
20th to 23rd of August 2019
Practical exploration of excerpts from choreographies by Pina Bausch. Discussions and reflexions about the background and development of the works of the Wuppertaler Tanztheater.
Pina Bausch (1940-2009) is considered to be the pioneer of modern dance theatre and one of the most influential choreographers if the 20th century. In 1973 she founded the Tanztheater Wuppertal. Working with the ensemble she developed dance theatre as an art form. Based on the inner movements of the dancers she developed choreographies in which everyday gestures, speech, song, facial expressions and movement converged. She worked with Jo Ann Endicott, Bénédicte Billiet and several other dancers over many years, almost since the beginning of her career.
The workshop is open to dancers and everyone rhythmically talented and interested in body language.
Course language: English and German
