Study
The study course in Music Education provides the necessary qualification to work successfully as a teacher in music schools, other public institutions and the private sector.
Aims of study are wide-ranging and vary according to specialisation: giving of instrumental and vocal tuition, teaching in music theory and pitch development, instruction of vocal and instrumental ensembles, and qualification for various other forms of group music work. The artistic standards in the main subject fields are high: the course is based on the belief that artistic, educational and academic work represent an inseparable, coherent whole.
The bachelor‘s course offers specialisations in instrumental teaching, vocal teaching, and music and movement (rhythm/elementary music education).
Master‘s courses are offered in music theory, choral and ensemble conducting or elementary music education. The artistic, educational and academic parts of this course of study are complemented and consolidated by a period of practical orientation and supervised practical training in music schools in Berlin and Brandenburg.
