Music therapy has been firmly established at the University of the Arts Berlin for over 40 years. The music therapy program is offered as a part-time, continuing education Master's degree. Clinical experience, artistic practice, and scientific reflection are closely integrated.
The program includes the teaching of psychodynamic, developmental psychological, and functional concepts, as well as a solid therapy-related music education, all complemented and deepened by supervision and study-related internships. The six-semester program is modular in structure and begins annually in the winter semester.
The Master's in Music Therapy is aimed at graduates from the fields of music, psychology, education, medicine, and related disciplines. The program trains and enables scientific work with a focus on the foundations and clinical applications of music therapy. Additionally, the program is vocationally qualifying. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the academic degree "Master of Arts," which provides access to diverse clinical, rehabilitative, special education, social pedagogy, and scientific fields. Graduates acquire the qualifications for recognition as music therapists according to the certification guidelines of the Federal Association of Music Therapy.
