Radiophonic Spaces: Presence at a Distance | NOV 29 - DEC 1 | HKW

From Thursday till Saturday Jacob Erik, Lukas Grundmann and students from SoundS (Nicolas Daleman, Elizabeth Davis, Hugo Esquinca, Eunice Fong, Kassiani Goulakou, Nina Guo, Marios Pavlou, Francisco Petrucci, and Farshad Xajehnassiri) will be showing performances and installations at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt about the paradoxical ubiquity of radio waves. Their works i.e. explore the process of translation in the medium radio, radio play sound effects meet post internet aesthetics and mix live transmissions with archived material. Come explore presences at a distance.

A performance by Nina Guo and a multilingual ensemble that considers the act of translation in the medium of radio.

neither here nor there, all the time (life of a signal) 
A performance whereby an audio signal is affected throughout acoustic, electric, and digital media spaces and their native modulators like architecture, bodies, electronics, and code.

Narration Zero
An audiovisual work juxtaposing, reconstructing, and mixing the naturalistic acting and conventional sound effects of radio drama with post internet aesthetics.

Elizabeth Davis will present her installation, which imagines another airspace with non-delineated genre boundaries by juxtaposing works from the Radiophonic Spaces archive, outsider radio art, and non-art radio.

DRIVE-THRU 
Nicolas Daleman and Eunice Fong explore acts of transmission and reception using RC cars equipped with speakers to trace paths between various radiophonic signals.
