Theatre Education combines creative, dramatic and didactic elements to create a unique, exciting field of contrasts. The areas covered in the Master’s programme in Theatre Education and the supplemental course in Drama do full justice to this integrated concept. Individual artistic experiences and their systematic reflection are combined in a close interweaving of theory and practice. Group- and project-oriented teaching methods aim to consolidate personal, social and methodological competence.
The modular training course focuses on the subjects of movement, breathing and voice, improvisation, stagecraft, narration, direction, didactics, dramatic theory and aesthetic education theories. Additional courses in the fields of educational science and social and cultural studies supplement the modules.
In addition to creative work, the programme also encompasses thematically related research, team work involving the division of tasks, project applications and acquisition, advertising, presentation and the evaluation and documentation of project work.
The Theatre Education programme is practice-oriented and job-related. Graduates are qualified to apply for both educational and artistic positions in the theatre. They are prepared for working with a wide range of people in drama, theatre education and specialists. They learn to convey the impact of creative processes and how to trigger a desire in audiences to engage with diverse realities. For teachers, it is possible to acquire additional qualifications in the subject Drama while continuing to teach.
