Are teaching and learning natural processes associated with constant progress? How does an interpretation evolve, what outside impulses bear fruit, and how can technical difficulties be overcome? Jens Peter Maintz, celebrated cellist, soloist and chamber music partner, initiates students into his art and musical understanding in a public master class and, of course, picks up the instrument himself. Hailing from Hamburg, he studied with David Geringas and attended master classes with other great cellists such as Heinrich Schiff, Boris Pergamenschikow, Frans Helmerson and Siegfried Palm. In addition, the intensive chamber music studies with Uwe-Martin Haiberg and Walter Levin shaped him. In 1994 he won 1st prize at the ARD International Music Competition, which had not been awarded in the cello category for 17 years until then.
The numerous achievements of his students prove that the professor of cello at the UdK Berlin is not only a gifted musician, but also an outstanding teacher. Recently, cellists in his class were awarded prizes at the UNISA International Strings Competition in South Africa and at the Concours de Genève, a position as principal cellist of the BR Radio Orchestra in Munich, and scholarships from the GWK Foundation. This makes you want to know more - and to take a look "behind the door" of the classroom: Take advantage of the opportunity offered to you and experience a lesson up close!
crescendo is open for everyone! That’s why (almost) all concert are free of charge.
