Pre-colleges students of the Julius-Stern-Institut perform with students of the Szkoła Muzyczna Łowiecka from Wrocław/ Breslau solo and chamber music with pieces from Wojciech Kilar and W. A. Mozart.

We have known for centuries that music is an element that unites across borders and continents. The Julius Stern Institute also has a long tradition of international ties with partner institutions that are also committed to promoting young musical talent. After exchange projects with Basel, Athens and Vienna, we now welcome young students from the Karol Szymanowski State Music School in Wrocław/Breslau, who will make music together with the young students as soloists and in the ensemble of the UdK Berlin.

The highlight is the piece Orawa by Wojciech Kilar for string orchestra with its repetitive patterns and dense, minimalist tapestries of sound: It is a homage to a stretch of land on the Polish-Slovakian border and is ideal for indulging in the intoxication of timbres and evoking landscape images in the mind's eye. Once again, the excellence of the young students is underlined, who - still of school age - are already being taught by university lecturers.

This concert celebrates international solidarity and cohesion, even in the current challenging and upsetting times.
