Volltakt: Opening with professors of the UdK Berlin – crescendo
Chamber music works by impressionist masters such as Jongen, Jolivet, Debussy and Ravel.
With Auftakt and Volltakt, two concerts with chamber music giants will open this year's crescendo festival! Nothing less than outstanding soloists on their instruments - and professors at the UdK Berlin - take us to the early 20th century in France and Belgium. Impressionistic sounds by Joseph Jongen, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel run through the evening, but are broken up with abrupt and atonal mood changes in André Jolivet's Chant de Linos, which thus cannot be unjustifiably assigned to the modern era. The music oscillates between these sudden emotional outbursts and introverted harmonies, finding its emotional and powerful climax in Ravel's Introduction and Allegro for harp, flute, clarinet and string quartet. This evening takes its listeners into the musical depths of impressionism.
