Prof. Enrico Stolzenburg

Enrico Stolzenburg is a theater director, born in 1973 in East-Berlin.
After studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, he has made a name for himself directing contemporary works.
He was member of the Berliner Ensemble and resident director at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, directed productions at the Schaubühne, Deutsches Theater Berlin, and Theater Freiburg, among others. He staged premieres in Germany and Switzerland, in Athens, for the Festival d'Avignon, at the Viirus Theater and at the Kiasma Teatteri in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, at the Miryang Theater Village in South Korea, and at the Seika Theater in Osaka.
His productions have made guest appearances at international festivals such as Premières at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, the Miryang Summer Performing Arts Festival in South Korea, the Autortheatertage at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and at Deutsches Theater Berlin, “Auawirleben” contemporary theater festival in Bern, and the Hangö-Teaterträff in Finland.
Over a period of three years he led the Brecht seminar for actors, directors and scenic writers at the Helsinki Theater Academy. He has also taught at Osaka University and at the Latvian Academy of Culture in Riga.
In addition to directing, he works in interdisciplinary contexts as sound artist, both collaboratively and as soloist. He has created site-specific compositions, audio walks, and sound installations for the Munich Biennale, Kunstfest Weimar, Festival Neue Musik Rümlingen, Niedersächsische Musiktage, Sinfonieorchester Münster, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Zeiträume Basel, Rainy Days Luxembourg, Lieu d'Europe Strasbourg and at Donaueschingen Music Days.
He has been teaching as a professor in the acting program of the University of the Arts Berlin since 2014.
