Hyungjoong Kim

Hyungjoong Kim, born in Seoul, is an artist and a researcher. He studied film and philosophy (B.A.) at Sungkyunkwan university and completed his M.S. at Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST). His artworks have been introduced in media art exhibitions and conferences such as Ars Electronica Festival (2015), International Symposium on Electronic Arts (2017), TADAEX (2018), Daejeon Biennale (2018, 2020), and xCoAx (2021).

Since he had completed Absolvent program in Art and Media, Berlin University of the Arts in 2022, he has been working as a research assistant (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) and a lecturer in Digital Education, working with Prof. Daniel Hromada in Udk. His current scientific research is mainly about Speech-To-Text and Text-To-Speech technology by using machine learning. As an artistic practice, he uses the technology as a medium to question what human voice and speech are and to create installations and sound works. He is also running a Berlin based web radio station, oolongradio, since 2020.
