Sabrina Labis

Sabrina Labis is an artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. She studied Fine Arts at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (2011-2014) and is a Meisterschüler of Berlin University of the Arts, where she attended the class for Experimental Film and Media Art (2014-2018).
Parallel to her artistic practice, she worked for the video art collection of the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2020-2024) and held teaching positions at art academies (2019-2024). Since winter semester 2024/25 she is an artistic associate in the department Experimental Film and Media Art of Prof. Nina Fischer at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Sabrina Labis has been awarded with grants and prizes, including the Exhibition Prize of the Art Society Lucerne, the Elsa-Neumann-Grant of the State of Berlin and the Berlin Culture Prize from New York University Berlin (NYU Berlin). She has also received the Scholarship Deutschlandstipendium from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and project funding from the Canton of Zurich.
Her work has been presented internationally in solo and group exhibitions and at film festivals, including the 19th edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival in Albania (2024), Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation Warsaw (2023), the Centre Pompidou Paris (2022), the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2022) and the Kunstmuseum Luzern (2015, 2017). Her works have also been presented at the SCOPE - Biennale for Media Art & Photography in Hanover (2021) and at the Videonale at the Kunstmuseum Bonn (2017).
