Erinnerung an die Zukunft [remembering the future]
Erinnerung an die Zukunft [remembering the future]
The future arrived faster, but appears less futuristic than expected. Science fiction with its skyscrapers, high speed trains and communication networks has become our reality leaving the utopian dreams of the 20th century behind: What cinema – with its simulative scenarios and nature catastrophes – imagined as of the future, seems to have become a timeless present. Future is now something that we remember.
Remembering the Future takes a seat in the space ship, flies to Jupiter and visits the Planet of the Apes once more. The piece re-stages science-fiction films, questioning what we thought we would be and recollects what will be by remembering what we thought we would be.
