In the course of the film programme of the MUMOK Wien “Proben auf Excempel – Make to the Test” both the films  ‘Tragödien aus der Stadt – Tragedies from the City” and “ensemble” of Eva Könnemann will be shown. Two rehearsal processes, two documentations. Die Tragödien aus der Stadt – The Tragedies from the City, recognized at the film festival Oberhausen in 2008, examines the rehearsals of Laurent Chétouanes and Fabian Hinrichs’ Hamlet as a working situation, permeable to the edges. The film ensemble, made two years later, rehearses the rehearsal under the actual circumstances of a working environment: after the casting of the protagonists and before the (only) performance at Kampnagel in Hamburg. Die Probebühne, called the “laboraty” by the creators of the piece, become the closed venue of an experiment, where a work process has only been created only for the purpose of observation.
