Among other composers, our former fellow Genoël von Lilienstern debuts a new composion in the frame of the collaborative project called “Devices and Desires”of the Berlin ensemble Adapter and the Neue Vocalsolisten at the Theatre P1 in Stuttgart.
Both ensembles combine experimental chamber music works and seek for new instrumental or vocal forms of expression based on the close collaboration between the Composers.
Three young Berlin-based composers are engaged to compose for both ensembles and to include mechanical and electronic sources besides instrumental and vocal sounds.
The title “Devices and Desires” reflects the everyday use of technical devices, as well as the desire for emotional fulfilment through music.
“Devices and Desires” intends to wrest technical objects from everyday life and to introduce them to a musical context.
Genoël von Lilienstern about his music: „Der Lautsprecher ist ein Körper. Der Computer auch. Weil die alten klassischen Klangkörper zu überfrachteten Bildern erstarrt sind, mit denen sich keine Kunst mehr machen lässt, geht es in meinen Kompositionen um die Körperrealität der aktuellen Musikmedien. Der Blick ist gerichtet auf Lautsprecher, Roboter, akustische Flugdrohnen und verkabelte Menschen.“
