Solo Exhibition “The Paradox of Knowing Universals”
We are happy to announce the first institutional solo exhibition “The Paradox of Knowing Universals” by our current fellow Ralf Backer in the frame of the programme of the Kasseler Kunstverein that deals with the phenomena of “digital culture”. Ralf Baecker explores with his so-called “poetic machines” the material culture of the digital.
For example, he transfers the abstract processes within the inside of a silicon chip into mechanical apparatuses for calculation. His machines spatalise with electromotors and wooden handles what happens in the computer between zero and one: the complexity of the digital world is fragmentally translated in fragile, solid constructions. Baecker develops vivid models that offer unique insights in the kernel of the digital, the automata in permanent action, that generate new forms and sounds with minimal movements.
