"Aids Follies" at Sophiensaele
Sophiensaele Berlin presents the musical theatre “Aids Follies”. Genoël von Lilienstern, former fellow of the Graduate School, composed the piece.
“Aids Follies” combines revue and lecture performance, documentary clips and pop culture into the first virus-biographical show ever. From pop to porn and opera to activism, a global cultural history of HIV interweaves with the obsessive search for a patient zero. The resulting panorama for which Genoël von Lilienstern has written new compositions, draws on queer revues from the 80s and juxtaposes typical narratives and stereotypes with an international research.
