Barbara London Calling
In her podcast series, former MoMA curator Barbara London hosts conversations with pioneering and up-and-coming artists. Together they explore what motivates and inspires these artists, what technologies they use in their unusually varied practices, and how they see the world as artists working at the forefront of technology and creativity. Many of the artists are featured in London's book, Video/Art: The First Fifty Years (Phaidon: 2020). Several are also included in “Seeing Sound,” an exhibition London organized, which tours in 2021 under the auspices of Independent Curators International (ICI), the nonprofit based in Manhattan.
For the twelfth episode of "Barbara London Calling," Barbara speaks with our fellow Didem Pekün. Didem's lyrical video installations interrogate ideas of identity, displacement and statelessness, as she "changes languages, changes SIM cards, changes cities" in what she calls a "perpetual effort to reach and keep my people close to me."
