Dream Now, Project Future
Schools of Tomorrow 3
How can the unique experiences made throughout the pandemic year of 2020 be recorded, articulated, narrated or reported? How can future generations get to know what happened and how people coped? Stories often reflect, serve and shape not only the world but also hopes and fears. Dreams are like stories. Films tell stories. The film makers Azin Feizabadi and Mariam Mekiwi, together with eighth graders from Johanna-Eck-Schule in Berlin-Tempelhof, set out to create a collective memory by creating a collection of dreams by students, teachers and artists alike. In a film, they weave, edit and stage those dreams together in a collective choreography. A film that entangles the present as a ball of thread and explores personal histories, fears and hopes from dark and bright futures, fantasy worlds or speculations.
The Johanna Eck School is an integrated secondary school (ISS) in the Tempelhof district. With their teacher Louisa Grothmann
Schools are laboratories for the society of tomorrow. But how can they enable democratic, self-determined and sustainable action? For Schools of Tomorrow 3, HKW initiates new school projects for artistic research into the future of education. Dear Future, presents the results of twelve school projects held during the exceptional school year 2020/2021 in an interactive stage program and explores the educational issues of the future in performances and audience discussions with educational practitioners, artists and activists.
