The Tune In Festival
The return of The Tune In Festival will feature more than 30 artists and ensembles over four days, coming together to pay respect to the time-honored tradition of music and poetry as sources of resilience, protest and inspiration. The festival is curated by performance poet J. Ivy and pianist Lisa Kaplan in close collaboration with CAP UCLA Creative Advisor Kristy Edmunds.
Anthony R. Green's performance I returned. I wanted to., an exploration of Black queer praxis in diaspora, is screened on the fourth day of the festival. The video contains works by Liz Gre, Shannon Sea and Anthony R. Green, as well as a poetry reading and a performance of a traditional Christian Hymn. Filmed in Ghana, the performance involves the playing of a (pink) toy piano, singing, and using objects and movement.
Additionally, on the same day, the Thalea String Quartet, is playing the string quartet Sacred Ground (... we can still feel the tremors ...) by Anthony R. Green, which was commissioned by Chamber Music Tulsa to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre.
