How to show war? Or: Who am I looking at?
A research and installation-based video project dealing with the material of the „Library HamdijaKresevljakovic – Video Archive“, a collection of private videos, which document the siege of Sarajevo (1992 – 1995) from the perspective of the trapped.
The video archive is understood as the beginning of a development that leads to online video clips of the Arab Spring like the ones from war zones akin to Gaza and Syria. The project explores what subjective witness can mean in the context of collective and traumatic upheavals and how and from whom military conflicts are visually communicated.
Clarissa Thieme is a media artist and filmmaker. In her films and installations she combines documentary and fictional elements to explore the politics of memory and identity processes.
