Susanne Stemmler
Prof. Dr. Susanne Stemmler was our Visiting Professor in 2013. Together with scholars and colleagues from the Graduate School she curated the Graduale which took place from October 12th to 13th 2013. Her background is in literature and cultural studies and allows her to work in various scientific or artistic contexts. From 2008 to 2011 she has been head of the Department for Literature, Science, Society at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, where she has been curating an international science and literature program. She wrote a PhD on Topografien des Blicks. Eine Phänomenologie literarischer Orientalismen des 19. Jahrhunderts in Frankreich (2004) within the field of French Literature Studies. From 1997 to 2004 she had been teaching Romance Studies as well as Media and Cultural Studies at the University Düsseldorf. Her focus is cultural theory.
