Case Study House #29: Earth, Straw, Wood serves as a prototype for a single-family house that addresses the pressing needs for affordable housing, ecological sustainability and spatial generosity. A modular system made of clay, straw and wood with the option of self-construction is being developed for the Berlin-Brandenburg area. Simple and clever details, based on traditional wood connections and implemented with modern manufacturing options, are an essential part of the design principle.
