What is Beyond UdK_Talks about?

Beyond UdK aims to provide international students who are about to graduate with orientation and support in professionalising their own artistic practice in Germany beyond UdK.

Beyond UdK_Talks is a format in which international students, UdK alumni and experts exchange views on perspectives for the future. International alumni of previous years are invited to share their experiences and advice with interested students of UdK Berlin. Experts such as curators, artistic directors, representatives of funding institutions from various artistic and cultural fields and professors from UdK Berlin will also provide insights into their own work and knowledge. They will outline possible approaches and difficulties of the respective scenes and thus provide students with guidance for the time after graduation from UdK Berlin.

In the second year of the Covid 19 pandemic, cultural life is more restricted than almost any other sphere due to repeated closures of all production sites and venues. This makes it all the more important to talk about and prepare for the challenges and decisions involved in moving from studies to artistic independence and cultural professions.

Beyond UdK_Talks took place online in five event blocks in June 2021:

Performing Arts (1 - 2 June)
Arts Education (8 - 9 June)
Fine Arts (15 - 16 June)
Film & New Media (22 - 23 June)
Classical Music & Opera (29 - 30 Juni)

The events were held in English and German.
