We are pleased to present the designs that were created in Prof. Henning Wagenbreth's Illustration class in the Visual Communication degree program.

Hannah Blum
Open House
The design shows the insight visitors get into the students' art, the work and also the interiors. The university literally opens its doors to the public and the art – in continuation of the series – manages to break out of the strict confines of the building to become accessible to the world.
Larissa Martins Gerich
Sow, Nurture, Grow
Like a garden that needs to be nurtured and cared for, the students' projects grow and mature throughout the semester. During the open house, visitors are invited to step into their "garden" to observe and experience the works that have been created.
Christian Pasqual
Art speaks
The project is inspired by the artist Dorothea Tanning and her work, in particular the poem „Artspeak“, which encourages us to question certainties and open up new perspectives. Tanning’s metaphor ‘as meaningless as dust under the rug’ inspired the illustration, in which hands symbolically point to what is hidden and invite us to look deeper.
Yael Rathejns
Schneckentempo
The Rundgang can induce some stress: the students want to show as much as possible, the visitors want to see as much as possible. As an answer to this pressure, this design shows a snail as the main element. The snail glides forwards without hurrying and inspects everything it encounters with its feelers. Perception instead of productivity, at a snail's pace.
Miia Riabova
The Cell
The biological cell as a symbol of diversity and interconnectedness: its components represent the various fields of study, classes, and artists that come together to form a complex whole. The cell symbolizes dynamism, growth, and collaboration that shape creative life.
Taro Usami
At Rundgang we interact with others not only verbally but also through the works that we present. In my design I tried to capture the moment of stimulation through these interactions.

Studying art as a metamorphosis.
Curious like a caterpillar. Being introspective like in a cocoon.
Growth, rebirth and takeoff as a butterfly.
The world of butterflies is diverse, full of surprises and transformations - just like that
of art students.
The Rundgang enables a peek into this world.

„If the insects die out, this will have a significant impact on humans“ is a common saying. Inspired by the Berlin Senate's cultural cutbacks, the design draws a parallel to the thesis in relation to art and highlights the fact that the Rundgang has particular relevance as a free cultural event in 2025. In addition to their necessity for the ecosystem, the various insects also symbolize selected characteristics of the different departments of the university. The silverfish should not be missing, because no matter how dark the future appears, similar to cockroaches it will undoubtedly survive the apocalypse. The design is intended as an invitation to continue consuming and creating art.
