I envision an object that struggles to move independently being compelled into motion by an external force. For me, it's represented by my mom, needing rehabilitation, my falling hair, or a tree branch disturbing my sleep.
In the work "Leg Exercises", it is overlong, fragile-looking legs that move. However, the movement is so delicate and just on the verge of breaking off that it is unclear whether the legs are performing the movement or whether the legs are being moved from the outside.
Lethargy, resignation, and discomfort. Yet, still striving. When power is channeled through the motor, they come alive. The kinetic sculptures moving in this manner possess a surreal, broken quality.
