Commission for Equal Opportunities (KfC)

Responsibilities of the Commission for Equal Opportunities

Self-image: The Commission for Equal Opportunities (KfC) is a commission open to all members of the UdK Berlin. It advises the Presidential Board of the University and the Academic Senate on equal opportunities, the LADG, and the AGG, and supports the implementation and further development of the Critical Diversity Policy. Equal opportunities are understood intersectionally.

Topics:

  • Advises the Academic Senate and university management of UdK Berlin on the development of internal structures for the implementation of equal opportunities, the LADG, and the AGG
  • Accompanies and supports the interest groups (Women and Gender Equality Officer, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Officer, Representative for Severely Disabled Persons, Representative for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses) and the Support Group against Discriminiation and Violence in the development of structures and measures for the implementation of Critical Diversity at UdK Berlin and supports their evaluation at regular intervals.
    • Has the right to propose members and deputy members of the Support Group against Discrimination and Violence
    • Participates in the appointment procedures for the Diversity Officer
  • Supports measures and strategies for equal opportunities in research, teaching, and administration, and for the artistic and academic staff at UdK Berlin
    • Selects internal UdK projects within the framework of the Berliner Program of the Promotion of Equal Opportunities for Women in Research and Teaching (BCP) and reports on the funded measures
    • Advises on measures to balance studies, career, and family
    • Evaluates the mentoring program prof*me to promote highly qualified young female artists and scientists
    • Supports the introduction of anti-discrimination topics and the implementation of intersectional perspectives in the arts, teaching, and research
    • Accompanies and reflects on the strategy and implementation of measures for underrepresented, marginalized groups (including persons at risk, racialized people, neurodivergent and disabled people, trans* persons)
  • Connects initiatives on anti-discrimination, safer spaces, and support at UdK Berlin
  • Opens opportunities for reflection on the topics of equality/equal opportunities, anti-discrimination, and diversity at UdK Berlin (e.g., Critical Diversity Blog)

Notification

The Critical Diversity Policy - Concept for Anti-Discrimination and Diversity of UdK Berlin - was unanimously endorsed by the Academic Senate of UdK Berlin at its 352nd regular meeting on 7 December 2022. The resolution can be found  here. The Critical Diversity Policy comes into effect upon publication in the official bulletin of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin Gazette). The Gazette will be publicly announced at the end of the winter semester 2022/23.

Meetings

Regular meetings of the Standing Commission for Equal Opportunities (KfC) are always held on Mondays from 10:00 to 13:00, Room 019 of the University Library at Fasanenstr. 88 (corner of Hertzallee) 10623 Berlin.

Attendance Fee

Student members or their deputies, the advisory member of the AStA or their deputies, and part-time lecturers who participate as voting or advisory members in the meeting receive a attendance fee in accordance with the University Meeting Attendance Fee Regulation (HSigVO). The appropriate form is provided by the office.

Substitute regulation

If you are unable to attend a meeting, please inform the office in good time to ensure a quorum, so that the deputy can be notified.
