News and events on the topic of climate
The dramatic and life-threatening consequences of human-induced climate change demand that politicians, and we as individuals, act quickly. Fortunately, thanks to academic self-administration, decisions and changes can be implemented far more quickly at the Berlin University of the Arts than by politicians at the local, federal state and national levels. Even so, at the University of the Arts, with around 4,000 students, 300 members of staff and 450 teachers, and with a building covering a total area of approximately 96,000 m², the policy of combating climate change is making a big impact.
The Berlin University of the Arts has decided to take steps towards becoming a climate-friendly, sustainable university. On 4 November 2020, a state of CLIMATE EMERGENCY was declared. And in the interim, our University has introduced a large number of climate-friendly initiatives with very different focal areas. These initiatives are described in brief on this page. Every University member, whether they are a student, a teacher or a member of staff, is invited to participate in these initiatives and to reflect on their own actions and their impact on the environment.
