Biographies of the award winners

Maxim Kosinov, born in St. Petersburg, began his first music lessons at the age of three before turning to the violin at five. After attending the music high school at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, he began his violin studies there with Prof. Ovchatek. Since 2003, Maxim Kosinov has been studying with Uwe-Martin Haiberg at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin, currently in an advanced program. In recent years, he has received awards at significant international competitions, including being a semifinalist in the Gyeongnam Violin Competition in Korea, winning second prize at the J & A Beare Solo Bach Competition in London in 2008, receiving a special prize at the Benjamin Britten Violin Competition in London, and most recently, in September of last year, winning fifth prize at the International Lipizer Violin Competition in Italy. Maxim Kosinov has participated in masterclasses with Gerard Poulet and Marie Leonhardt. He has already gained diverse orchestral experience, including as a member of the orchestral academy of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, as the recipient of the Ferenc Fricsay Scholarship with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and since 2007 as a substitute with the English Chamber Orchestra.

Marisol Lee studied at the Arts High School in Seoul from 2003 to 2006 and then at the National University in Seoul. Since 2006, she has been a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. Marisol Lee has won numerous awards, including first prize at the Ewha Competition in South Korea in 2002 and first prize at the Chung-Ang Competition in South Korea in 2005. Most recently, she secured third prize at the International Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition. She has an active concert career, including serving as concertmaster of the Seoul Arts High School Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as performing with various orchestras such as the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.

Jason Issokson, born in Texas, USA, received his first violin lessons at the age of four. At ten, he began studying with Jan Mark Sloman, concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony. In 2006, he graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and then went to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he was taught by the Japanese violinist Midori Goto at both schools. Over the years, Jason Issokson has won numerous awards, including first prize at the Juanita Miller State Youth Competition in 2001, first prize at the Five Towns Music Competition in 2004, first prize at the Posttown Symphony Orchestra in 2006, and at the Sigma Alpha Iota Scholarship Competition in 2007. He also successfully participated in the Alberto Curci International Violin Competition in 2008, achieving third place.

Biographies of the award winners

Adrien Boisseau was born in 1991 in France. He is currently studying at the Paris Conservatory (CNSM) with Jean Sulem for viola and chamber music with Marc Coppey. In recent years, Adrien Boisseau has received various awards, including the second prize at the Epernay Competition (2005), the second prize at the “Young Violists Competition” (2005), the second prize at the “Gerardmer-Kichompré International Competition” (2007), the second prize at the FMAJI International Competition (2008), and the “Special Prize” at the “Flame International Competition” (2008). Adrien Boisseau has gained orchestral experience under conductors such as Manfred Honeck, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Myun-Whun Chung, and Kasushi Ono. In 2008, he participated in the Lucerne Festival with the Academy Orchestra under Pierre Boulez. He performed several viola concertos as a soloist at the FMAJI Festival in France, showcasing a wide repertoire that includes works by Léo Smit, Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Johann Christian Bach, Béla Bartók, Paul Hindemith, Benjamin Britten, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Adrien Boisseau has attended numerous masterclasses with artists such as Lars Tomter, Barbara Westphal, Diemut Poppen, Jean Sulem, the Ludwig Quartet, and the Via Nova Quartet.

Katarzyna Budnik, born in 1985, began her musical career at the age of seven in Białystok, Poland. She graduated with honors from the National Secondary School of Music in 2004 and then began her studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw under Mirosław Ławrynowicz. Since then, she has continued her musical education with Janusz Wawrowski and Piotr Reichert. She is a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the 15th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria, in 2008, and the 8th National Jan Rakowski Viola Competition. As a soloist and chamber and orchestral musician, she has played under the direction of conductors such as Jerzy Semkow, Pavel Lando, and Czesław Grabowski. She has further developed her musical skills through masterclasses with Roland Baldini, Matis Vaytser, Yair Kless, Mirosław Ławrynowicz, and Stefan Kamasa.

Corina Golomoz was born in 1985 in Kishinev, Moldova. She received her first violin lessons at the State Lyceum “C. Porumbescu” from Prof. Galina and Nicolai Buinowski. In 2001, she began her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock with Prof. Petru Munteanu. Corina Golomoz is a member of the CONCERTINO ensemble, where she has performed several times as a soloist. Since 2002, she has been a scholarship holder of the “Friedrich von Flotow e. V.” Friends' Circle in Sanitz. In 2003, she began her viola studies with Prof. Katrin Wolf. She has also participated successfully in various masterclasses. In 2004, Corina Golomoz was awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for her exceptional social commitment and artistic presence. She completed her violin studies with excellent results in 2006 and was a scholarship holder of the Horst-Rahe Foundation that same year. Corina Golomoz has attended masterclasses with Igor Oistrach, Erich Krüger, Christian Ostertag, Pinchas Zukerman, Tatiana Masurenko, and the Verdi Quartet. In 2007, she won the first prize at the “HMT-Interdisciplinary” competition. She currently plays a viola by the violin maker Susanne Conradi from Munich.

Seungwon Lee was born in 1990 in Seoul, Korea. He received his first violin and piano lessons at the age of three and switched to viola with Myunghee Cho in 1999. In 2003, he was admitted to the Yewon School for viola as his major but decided to attend the Seoul Arts High School in 2006. He stayed there for a year before moving to Berlin in 2007 to study with Prof. Tabea Zimmermann at the HfM Hanns Eisler. In Germany, he has attended masterclasses with Hartmut Rohde, Tatjana Masurenko, and Andreas Willwohl, among others. He has been awarded various prizes in numerous competitions, including first prizes at the Music Journal Competition, the Korean Chamber Ensemble Competition, the Weimar Music Competition, and the Donga Competition in Korea, as well as a second prize and the EMCY Prize at the “Festival Bled” international competition in Slovenia. Additionally, he was a member of the Bianco Quartet, which worked closely with Albrecht Meyer and Eckart Runge, and has performed concerts before the Federal President and the Federal Chancellor. Through his work with the Bianco Quartet, Seungwon Lee also received a scholarship from Villa Musica and the German Foundation for Music Life.
