Yen-Yu Ko

Vita

Born in Taipei in 1996, Yen Yu Ko began playing the viola at eight. She studied with Chen Hung Ho at the Taipei National University of the Arts. From 2019, she continued her studies in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München under the tutelage of Wen Xiao Zheng and Prof. German Tcakulov.
During her studies, she actively took part in numerous international music festivals, including the Asian Youth Orchestra, Youth Music Culture Guangdong, Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra, and the Villars Music Academy. Throughout her musical training, she has had the privilege receiving guidance from several great violists, such as Hariolf Schlichtig, Lars Anders Tomter, Thomas Riebl, Nobuko Imai, Hsin Yun Huang, Antoine Tamestit, and Amihai Grosz.
As an enthusiastic orchestra musician, her frequent appearances on stage with renowned orchestras have immensely broadened her musical journey. In 2022/23, she was a scholarship holder of the Akademie des NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchesters. Currently she holds a temporary contract with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra as tutti violist.
