Vita

Anna Freer is a violinist, singer, and poet of Australian and Swiss heritage. She is interested in finding unique ways to tell stories through music and words, combining the old and the new to create something entirely different.

Anna is a versatile and creative player, equally at home on baroque and modern violin, and is especially passionate about combining violin and voice, being also a trained and accomplished singer. She does this both as a solo undertaking and in a chamber music setting, having worked with various leading Australian vocal ensembles on collaborative programmes, and has performed solo narrative based recitals internationally.

Anna is currently studying with Sergey Malov at the Zürich University of the Arts, after completing a master’s degree with distinction with Rudolf Koelman and Sergey Malov at the ZHdK and a bachelor’s degree with Elizabeth Layton and Keith Crellin in Australia. She has received guidance from artists such as Pinchas Zukerman, James Ehnes, and Andrey Baranov. She is a proud recipient of the prestigious World Universities Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship.
