Orchestral tour "United Europe"
On tour with friends: The Berlin University of the Arts Symphony Orchestra in Berlin, Bochum, Rotterdam and London.
An orchestral tour with 86 international musicians through 4 cities in 5 days.
The UdKs annual Concert for the Nations 2019 marked the beginning of the orchestral tour "United Europe - on tour with friends" of the Berlin University of the Arts Symphony Orchestra through four different European cities in just five days. More than 80 students from the UdK Berlin but also from the Royal College of Music London and the Royal Conservatory The Hague as well as from Codarts Rotterdam travelled, worked and performed together. After Berlin they performed at the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr in Bochum (9th November), the Rotterdam concert hall De Doelen (10th November) and the concert hall of the Royal College of Music in London (12th November). The concerts were be conducted by Steven Sloane.
The Berlin Concert for the Nations 2019 took place under the patronage of the Embassy of Japan in Germany.
With this tour, the UdK Berlin was artistically engaging with the great challenge at these turbulent times. For the young musicians, who worked together for several days in different places, Europe is a reality that has shaped and will continue to shape their lives and thoughts. The orchestral tour of the UdK Berlin should therefore be a sign of our conviction: "Europe is our future", emphasized Professor Martin Rennert, President of the UdK Berlin.
The tour was supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the Governing Mayor of Berlin - Senate Chancellery.
