OPEN CALL
Start your own project in the summer term 2020!
Dear students,
Since this summer semester everything will be different, since social distancing as well as digital communication and contact will define our lived reality --- we will also do everything differently!
In the summer semester 2020, all students will have the opportunity to enrich their studies with a personal project - and to receive the necessary ECTS for it in their own study programme. We invite all students of the University of the Arts to participate.
Between Monday, April 20, and Monday, April 27, 2020, at 12pm (noon) you can contribute your own ideas and initiate collaborative projects you want to realize with others over the course of the summer semester. Please send them to this address: opencall.medienhaus.udk-berlin.de (registration with the official OASE account). Let us start something with our many own artistic and scientific projects, of which we specifically do not yet know what it is and what it will be.
Especially because of its extraordinary conditions, this summer offers a large space for experimental projects, which gives us the opportunity to deal with these extraordinary conditions actively, productively and creatively. If we understand them as a time capsule, our projects and work pieces will document how the University of the Arts contributed to reflecting on the present and to helping to shape the near future in this unique situation.
An experimental approach is the focus of the interesting, surprising, intensive and enlightening arguments, discourses and workpieces, which can be both acute-pragmatic but also long-term. This way, the project you will work on by yourself or with others generates an artistic discourse, and its arguments, by means of which this discourse is objectified or subjectified, become tangible, readable, presented, reflected and discussed.
Register at OPEN CALL by yourself or together with your fellow students. Give your project a title. Name all participants and their study programmes or who you are looking for to join your team. Write an abstract that outlines what you would like to discuss. And imagine the result at the end of this semester as well as how it could be shown or demonstrated in such a way that you will be able to obtain the desired ECTS in the respective study programme. The project will then be evaluated by an academic board. A teacher of your course of studies, who is entitled to take the exam, is a mandatory member of this commission, teachers from other courses of studies are invited to participate. The teacher of your degree programme, who is co-responsible for your free project (and whom you have mentioned in advance), acts as a mentor and supervises the project in dialogue with the other teachers. He or she also classifies the output in accordance with the module sheet, so that the corresponding ECTS are secured.
Existing student initiatives are also welcome to register their work as a project in the Open Call.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
