In the Grundrauschen (background noise) format, UdK students, equipped with a suitcase, make their way through the corridors of the UdK Berlin. Based on the Cultural Probes approach, the suitcase contains materials and equipment that can be used to trigger conversations, capture atmospheres, and depict perspectives. The students seek out UdK students at the university's various locations, engage them in conversations, ask them for their opinions, and document their impressions. This process results in a suitcase full of material about the UdK Berlin, designed by its members.

Grundrauschen sees itself as part of the Alchemy of the UdK. This project is dedicated to the self-image and values of UdK Berlin and its significance for togetherness in the form of experiments, research, and cross-faculty exchange.
