Phases

The process of developing a new visual self-image for the UdK Berlin consists of several phases, which we would like to briefly outline for you here. The plan will be continuously updated.

Upcoming phases:

  • From July 2024: Preparation of the tender documents for the participation competition
  • October 2024: Meeting with the advisory committee for a joint review of the tender documents and potential revisions
  • 1 November 2024: Publication of the tender documents
  • 29 November 2024: Deadline for submitting applications
  • December 2024: Evaluation of the suitability of applicants and invitation of suitable agencies to present their proposals to a jury
  • February 2025: Presentation of the competition submissions before the jury and jury deliberations
  • March 2025: Decision and awarding of the contract
  • From March 2025: Development of the concept for the new visual self-image of the UdK Berlin

Previous phases:

  • 6 December 2023: Presentation of the project in the Academic Senate by Prof. Dr Palz and Stephanie Kurz, external consultant
  • 21 December 2023: Announcement of the process via email to students, staff, and faculty members of UdK Berlin
  • 9–12 January 2024: Trial of the Alchemie der UdK Berlin with students and administrative staff during Collision Week in the Value Alchemy project and the start of data collection
  • 17 February–early April 2024:
    • Preparation and development of cross-faculty and cross-hierarchy participatory concepts (workshops and formats as part of the Alchemie der UdK Berlin)
    • Development of an info website to outline the project
    • Development of a project website for the innovative presentation of the impressions, stories, and perspectives surrounding UdK Berlin
  • April–May/June 2024:
    • Invitations and execution of formats from Alchemie der UdK Berlin, association rounds, etc.
    • Launch of the UdK Berlin survey (for internal and external participants)
    • Launch of the info website outlining the project
    • Collection of results, impressions, and stories of UdK Berlin and preparation for the exhibition
  • 27 June 2024: Performative, experimental exhibition of the collection of impressions and results, etc., on UdK Berlin and participatory presentation
  • July–September 2024: Summary of the results from all formats, the online survey, and exhibition day, compiled into a briefing that will be used for the participation competition to select an agency to develop the new visual self-image of UdK Berlin

    Advisory Committee

    In addition to the jury’s professional expertise, it is important to include other specific perspectives from within UdK Berlin. To ensure that the process remains participatory, representatives from interest groups, members of committees, heads of central offices and departments at UdK Berlin, as well as deans, centre directors, and the chancellor have been invited to join an advisory committee. The committee’s task is to provide expert consultation on the briefing and the tender documents.
