The UdK Berlin Art Award has been awarded annually since 2023 in the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Art and Media program at the Faculty of Design at the Berlin University of the Arts. Chaired by the President, the jury, which is made up of renowned figures from Berlin's art and cultural life as well as professors from the UdK Berlin, awards the prize to four master students from each year. The prize includes the award-winning exhibition and a monographic catalog.

The UdK Berlin Art Award replaces the "The President’s Fine Arts Award", which was awarded from 1997-2022.

Der UdK Berlin Art Award wird seit 2023 jährlich in der Fakultät Bildende Kunst sowie im Studiengang Kunst und Medien an der Fakultät Gestaltung an der Universität der Künste Berlin ausgeschrieben. Unter dem Vorsitz des Präsidenten vergibt die mit namhaften Personen des Berliner Kunst- und Kulturlebens sowie mit Professor*innen der UdK Berlin besetzte Jury den Preis an vier Meisterschüler*innen eines Jahrgangs. Der Preis umfasst die Preisträger*innenausstellung sowie einen monographischen Katalog.

Der UdK Berlin Art Award ersetzt den von 1997-2022 durchgeführten „Preis des Präsidenten der UdK Berlin für Meisterschülerinnen und Meisterschüler der Bildenden Kunst“.

With the announcement of this year's UdK Berlin Art Award winners on 30 May 2024, the opening of the nominees' exhibition will take place in the Quergalerie at Hardenbergstraße 33 at 6 pm.

The works of all nominees will then be on display from 31 May - 1 June 2024.

Mit der Bekanntgabe der diesjährigen Preisträger*innen am 30. Mai 2024 findet auch die Eröffnung der Nominiertenausstellung um 18 Uhr in der Quergalerie in der Hardenbergstraße 33 statt.

Die Arbeiten aller Nominierten sind daraufhin vom 31. Mai - 01. Juni 2024 zu sehen. 

After the application deadline, the jury will nominate a selection of applicants for the UdK Berlin Art Award 2024 in a first jury meeting on March 19, 2024. The nominees will then be invited at the beginning of the summer semester 2024 to present their work in a joint exhibitionon May 30, 2024 at the UdK Berlin. During the exhibition, the jury will select the winners on May 30, 2024.

The prizewinners' works will be presented in an exhibition at the Kommunale Galerie Berlin from November 19, 2024 to January 12, 2025. The prizewinners agree to make their works available for this occasion and to participate in the construction and transportation of this exhibition. Any transportation and material costs incurred can be reimbursed with a fixed amount. The prizewinners will receive a fee for their work.

Monographic catalogs will be produced on the occasion of the exhibition. A catalog of approximately 28 pages will be dedicated to each award winner. The individual catalogs are united by their size and uniform graphic design as well as the President's foreword.

The content of the catalog, such as texts and work illustrations, is created independently by the award winners. The graphic design will be created in collaboration with a graphic designer commissioned by the UdK Berlin/University of the Arts Events Department.

The award winners will each receive 200 catalogs for free use.
