Maternity Protection
The Maternity Protection Act applies to all nursing and pregnant women who are in employment. Since 1 January 2018, women who are trainees, volunteers, school pupils and university students, are also included.
The primary aim of the Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG) is to protect the health of women and their children at the place of work, training and study during pregnancy, after childbirth and during breastfeeding and to counteract any disadvantages with protective measures.
In order to rule out irresponsible risks to mother and child in individual cases, risk assessments are carried out in all faculties, e.g. for the workshops. The students then contact the university's physician, where the risk assessment takes place.
The Student Counselling and Psychological Counselling Service provides guidance on all questions relating to studying with a child or maternity protection during your studies.
