“This talk will cover some of the motivations surrounding my own work in several fields and some of the practical problems that I have encountered along the way. The talk will also touch on the lives and works of others. Through these examples I will make my best effort to focus on what I think are the implications for a whole new mentality in the study and practice of art and science.”

Kurz zur Biografie:
Joe Davis (*1951) arbeitet als Forscher am Biologischen Institut des MIT und am George Church Laboratory der Harvard Medical School. Seine Recherchen und seine künstlerische Arbeit kreisen um Felder wie Molekularbiologie, Bioinformatik, “space art” und Skulptur. Dabei setzt er unter anderem Instrumente und Medien wie Zentrifugen, Radios, Prothetik, Magnetfelder an genetisches Material ein. Als Lehrender war er ebenfalls am MIT sowie der Rhode Island School of Design tätig. Er ist Gewinner des Prix Ars Electronica für Hybrid Art 2012.
