Creative Europe? What Should we Expect from EU Cultural Policy?

Creative Europe? What Should we Expect from EU Cultural Policy?

Our fellow Tanja Ostojić will take part at the international conference – Creative Europe? What Should we Expect from EU Cultural Policy?

Border crossings have always been part and parcel of the way in which artists live and work. However, they are facing increasing challenges that complicate their trans-border activities. In the wake of global competition and the digital age, demands for greater flexibility and mobility are growing more audible. Whether in their everyday lives or at work, those engaged in artistic production are finding it ever more difficult to manage the balancing act between national and international support programs.

The general trends toward liberalization and the growing dominance of economic paradigms has not failed to affect Europe’s cultural world. Many artists and political actors have come to believe that the freedom and independence of art and culture are in jeopardy. The intense debate about the free trade agreement bears witness to these tendencies.
