Architecture Lobby 2 - Die Suche nach Verbündeten
Lehrbeauftragter: Jonas Illigmann, Brüssel und Berlin
The housing crisis is nothing new - however, it has developed into a democracy-threatening crisis, with symptoms that are clearly visible but causes that are spread across various fields.
Political decision-making processes regarding this issue often seem unclear and distant. While discussions about the housing crisis frequently take place on architectural and activist levels, the question we must ask is whether and how alternative solutions can make their way into the legislation level. How can we, as architects, urban planners, and urban designers, influence political processes for both our profession and society?
The seminar Architecture Lobby II - Suche nach Verbündeten provides an introduction to the EU democratic decision-making processes and explores the potential political impact of urban planners, architects, and urban designers. Through exchanges with experts and stakeholders, current challenges will be identified, and governance instruments will be examined to develop a clear understanding of the situation. Using the ongoing housing crisis as a case study, interviews with key actors will uncover different courses of action, highlight important nuances, and ultimately establish a shared political position.
