HYPER COMFORT Summer School Flyer
The “HYPER COMFORT” Summer School is hosted by Neue Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and the Berlin University of the Arts. It engages interdisciplinary participants that have a passion for architecture and are interested in debating its impact. The programme is planned as a think tank around the definition of ‘‘hyper comfort’’, taking the space of the Neue Nationalgalerie into account. During a one-week workshop, students will research and design in the aim of producing a manifesto, a physical installation, or a performance that will be displayed as a final presentation in the famous glass hall of the Neue Nationalgalerie, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The programme will be led by the French architect Stéphanie Bru from studio BRUTHER. In addition, students will be taught by UdK lecturers of the textile, sound, dance, and video departments, as well as international guest lecturers across the disciplines.
STRUCTURE
The workshop is organized around two complementary parts:
- The students’ project – in September, a group of students under the guidance of three tutors devise a project around the issue of the membrane.
- The reflection – starts in June after a selection of 16 students, including 8 architecture students and 8 from other disciplines.
A series of lectures on “hyper comfort”, bringing together architects, philosophers, anthropologists, and artists, will take place during the Summer School.
