#271 - Bauhaus Erde - Nina Peters & Eva-Maria Friedel
NINA PETERS & EVA-MARIA FRIEDEL, from BAUHAUS ERDE, upon invitation from Silvia Gioberti
BAUHAUS ERDE is a 50-member interdisciplinary and international Think-and-Make Tank based in Berlin and Potsdam. This non-profit organization is dedicated to the regenerative transformation of the built environment. Founded in 2019 by climate scientist Hans Joachim "John" Schellnhuber, Bauhaus Erde now brings together experts from the fields of science, architecture and planning, governance, and industry. To realize their vision, Bauhaus Erde investigates the key levers for transitioning to a regenerative built environment and develops systemic solutions at global, regional, and local levels. Their strength lies in their Think-and-Make-Tank approach: Bauhaus Erde initiates interdisciplinary scientific research, which is tested through real-world demonstration projects around the globe; at the same time, these projects serve to test and refine their scientific insights.
EVA-MARIA FRIEDEL has been working as an architect and expert in sustainable construction at Bauhaus Erde since May 2023. Her work focuses on life cycle analysis and planning and building with reused materials, as well as sustainable building materials such as wood, straw, and clay. Previously, she worked as a project manager at weberbrunner architekten. During that time, she developed the "Catalog of Measures for Sustainable and Circular Construction in Berlin" on behalf of the Berlin Senate Department for Environment, Mobility, Consumer, and Climate Protection. Before her time in Berlin, she was involved in various participatory architecture and urban development projects in South America.
NINA PETERS studied architecture and urban planning in Stuttgart, Madrid, and Berlin. From 2015 to 2022, she worked with Adengo Architecture on multidisciplinary research projects in Kampala, Uganda. Starting in 2018, as part of ZKB eG, she was co-responsible for cooperative neighborhood development at the Haus der Statistik and contributed to establishing the Urban Practice Network Office from 2022 to 2023. Since 2023, she has been working at Bauhaus Erde, researching regional and regenerative transformation processes.
