Folding Residencies, 2020
This project was a month-long arts-and-research-residency, in which four textile and fashion designers engaged in collaborative crafting and debating on technical and artistic knowledge embedded in folds and folding. In this residency we explored textile technologies and construction methods to design, fabricate and analyse three-dimensional dynamic materiality in electronic textiles. The focus was on sensor structures achieved by knitting, weaving, pleating and coating prototyping techniques. Material behaviour and possible design spaces emerging from co-working were reflected on.
