Christina Kubisch, born in Bremen in 1948, has studied painting, composition and electronic music in Hamburg, Graz, Zurich and Milan. Her work includes sound installations, sound sculptures, video and performance, as well as electroacoustic compositions and audio works for radio. Since 1974 her work has been presented internationally at festivals, concert halls, museums, galleries, and other places. Kubisch belongs to the first generation of sound artists. She has artistically developed multiple techniques based on electromagnetic induction, solar energy, and special light systems. Her work, which is mostly site specific, often includes the participation of the public. She has been a professor for sound art in Paris, Berlin, Saarbrücken, Wien and Oxford. She is a member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. The artist has received many international awards, grants and residencies. Since 1975 releases with Cramps Records, Editionen RZ, ampersand, semishigure, Die Schachtel, Olof Bright, Important Records, Gruenrekorder and others.
