The prefix trans in foreign words from Latin has the meaning "on the other side”, “across”, “through”. It is used in very different contexts, referring to movements, to states in flux, to moments of in-between. It can describe affiliations, characteristics, identities, directions, places, relationships and much more. As part of the seminar, we want to get to the bottom of the different connotations of trans and work with them, as well as find out how trans states can be negotiated artistically. We will read texts together, visit an event, invite guests and students will work on their own projects during a longer block of work in Sauen in May. The projects will be presented (performatively) during Rundgang.

Constantin Hartenstein ist ein deutscher Künstler, der in Berlin lebt und arbeitet. Er studierte an der UdK Berlin und an der HBK Braunschweig als Meisterschüler von Prof. Candice Breitz. Sylvia Sadzinski kuratiert, forscht und lehrt. In ihrer kuratorischen und wissenschaftlichen Arbeit konzentriert sie sich auf visuelle Praktiken des Widerstands, Körperpolitik, Affekttheorien sowie queere und feministische Epistemologien. Weitere Informationen unter www.sadzinski.de.

Vanina Saracino (she/they) ist eine unabhängige Kuratorin, Filmprogrammgestalterin, Autorin und Dozentin. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Theorien und Kunstpraktiken, die anthropozentrische und binäre Weltsichten aus einer intersektionalen Perspektive hinterfragen, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf zeitbasierter Kunst.
