Intensive Workshop, English/Deutsch, 2 SWS, 2 ECTS
2 Blocks: Fridays/Saturdays, 10-16:30 h on 6.6./7.6.2025 & 20.6./21.6.2025 in Straße des 17. Juni 118, room 105 (1st floor, fashion department); on the 2nd weekend possibly an excursion into the forest/ ggf. am 2. Wochenende Exkursion in den Wald (Düppeler Forst, close to S-Bahn Wannsee).

Weaving is an universal craft. What does it mean exploring it from marginalized positionings? This course offers an introduction to weaving on a mechanical loom paired with interconnecting socially marginalized positions. The aim of the seminar is to provide an introduction weaving, to be able to independently work on the loom and to experience self-efficacy through craftmanship. Prior weaving knowledge is welcome but not necessary. Please bring (fabric) scissors, paper and a pen.

Weben ist ein universelles Handwerk. Was bedeutet es, es aus marginalisierten Positionen heraus zu erforschen? Dieser Kurs bietet eine Einführung in das Weben am mechanischen Webstuhl, gepaart mit der Vernetzung von gesellschaftlich marginalisierten Positionen. Ziel des Seminars ist eine Einführung in das Weben, selbständiges Arbeiten am Webstuhl und die Erprobung von Selbstwirksamkeit durch handwerkliche Tätigkeit. Vorkenntnisse im Weben sind willkommen, aber nicht notwendig. Bitte bringen Sie eine (Stoff-)Schere, Papier und einen Stift mit.

Fulfilment criteria for ungraded accreditation: Regular and active Participation. // Regelmäßige, aktive Teilnahme.

Teresa Fagbohoun is a german fashion designer based in Berlin. She currently works as künstlerische Mitarbeiterin at the Institute of experimental Fashion and Textile Design of the Berlin University of the Arts. Since graduating from UdK Berlin in 2013, she has worked in the international ready-to-wear and accessories sector and as the founder of her bag label Tabu. As part of her teaching practice she explores the potential of fashion design from a power-critical perspective and craft as method for self-efficacy. After living in São Paulo for many years, she now lives in Berlin as a parent.
