This seminar combines Free Improvisation and the theoretical reflection on this artistic practice. We will start with some contemporary techniques of musical improvisation and their kinship with performance art. As part of the theoretical examination, we ask how/if ephemeral artistic practices can be documented and archived. We will conclude the course with a live-performance at the UdK anniversary ceremony on 08.02.2024.
This event on 8.2. is optional; for taking-part an extra 1 ECTS is possible.

Hanna Engelmeier ist seit Oktober 2023 Gastprofessorin im Studiengang Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftskommunikation. Promotion 2014 an der HU Berlin, wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Kulturwissenschaftlichen Institut Essen seit 2018. Studium der Kulturwissenschaft und Philosophie an der HU Berlin 2002-2008. Autorin, Essayistin, Kritikerin.

Maja von Kriegstein

is a musician, performer and university lecturer at the UdK Berlin. Her predominantly collectively developed free works include improvised music, experimental band projects and post-dramatic music theater. In these works, socio-political issues are often embedded in the context of experimental music.
